CONDITIONS AND OBJECTIVES

We propose the writing of the study of a pathology of the detachment of a continuous cladding and fissures in the façade of a multi-family building in Girona.

It has been possible to appreciate this pathology in the façade and the encounters with the metal railings and the false wooden tongue and groove ceilings. We have also seen the detachment of some wedges in the corners of the different facade planes. It must also be said that the encounters between the railing and the wall have been damaged as well as between the levels of the floors and the façade, marking out horizontal cracks.

The building was built in 1971 but later in the 80s the ceramic facade cladding was replaced for the current continuous cladding of the Cotegran type. Despite this action, these deficiencies at a constructive level continue to occur.

The overall objective of the work will be to diagnose the origin of the different pathologies by means of ocular inspection and specific tests and propose a constructive solution that takes into account the following aspects:

  • Structural and constructive diagnosis: roofs, walls, ceilings, ..
  • Construction system to be used.
  • Economic valuation of the intervention.
