The work consists of enriching and updating the Inventory of Catalan Cultural Heritage (Immovable): architectural, archaeological, and paleontological assets in the counties of Moianès, Cerdanya, Noguera, Alt Urgell, Pallars Jussà, Garrotxa, and Garrigues. The Inventory is the fundamental tool for understanding the heritage wealth of the country and its current state. Based on this knowledge, we are in a position to promote actions aimed at safeguarding, reassessing, studying, protecting, consolidating, and restoring it.
In this regard, the priority task of the Technical Support and Inventory Service is to provide the information and documentation that feeds into the databases currently available online.
Both local councils across Catalonia and interdisciplinary teams of architects, archaeologists, and historians as well as specialized companies need access to municipal heritage data in order to carry out studies on potential impacts.
This information is also essential for the administration itself when commissioning studies and projects involving construction, infrastructure, and activities that affect the territory and, consequently, the architectural heritage.
