The parish church of San Serni was built in the late 11th or early 12th century, within the evolved forms of Lombard Romanesque architecture. The building has undergone many renovations. It consisted of a single nave and an apse that rose above the crypt; in the seventeenth century the nave was renovated and the chapels were added.

From the original building the apse and the crypt are preserved. Inside the apse very notable parts of pictorial decoration are preserved. In its current state, it is not possible to determine whether other elements of the original building are preserved under the decoration of the nave.

The works were delivered at the end of 2020.
