INTERVENTION IN THE IESSO ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK IN GUISSONA

Shedding light on history and breathing new life into the monument... with the new lighting design for the Archaeological Park of the Roman city of Iesso, in Guissona (La Segarra).

This intervention project offers us an intimate look at a unique site, rich in history and heritage. Iesso preserves remnants of the Roman city's urban layout, inviting us to imagine life as it was two thousand years ago.

The new park redevelopment project places significant emphasis on new paving, shaded structures, a footbridge, and the illumination of the monument. This work aims to offer fresh perspectives on the ruins including a novel and evocative night time view developed in collaboration with Paola Medina of Atélier Medina Querini, a regular partner of our architecture team.

Throughout this process of reimagining the Roman city, we assembled a multidisciplinary team comprising architects, a civil engineer, a historian, and a museographer to collaboratively address the project's various scales. 

It is an inspiring challenge to ensure the continuity and future of a site that explains and fosters an understanding of this Roman settlement in inland Catalonia.
