MASTER PLAN FOR THE CARRILET STATION OF SANT FELIU DE GUÍXOLS (BAIX EMPORDÀ)
The City Council of Sant Feliu de Guíxols commissioned us to prepare the Master Plan for the intervention of the old train station of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
The purpose of the Intervention Master Plan for the Old Sant Feliu de Guíxols Station building is to comply with one of the provisions of the current POUM of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The document is drafted in accordance with Article 26 of the Consolidated Text of the Special Plan for the Protection of Architectural Heritage and Elements of Artistic and Historical Interest, which refers to the protection regulations for Assets of Local Interest.
An initial version of this Special Plan was subject to a report by the Territorial Commission for Cultural Heritage of Girona on 01/10/2025. Based on the recommendations made in the Commission's favorable agreement, slight changes and clarifications have been introduced into this document now presented.
The Old Station building, located at the less developed end towards the Palamós exit, becomes an element of great urban importance that triggered significant development and growth in the Tueda neighborhood. Furthermore, this caused changes in the character of certain streets in this urban sector, such as Joan Maragall street.
The integration of the Old Station building complex allows for the protection of its original elements, both internally and externally, as well as the relationship between the built space and the associated open space. To protect this property, included in the Heritage Catalog to be protected, any intervention on the building is subject to the approval of the corresponding Intervention Master Plan.
The aim of our document is to preserve the original architecture of the Old Station, conserving its original materials, construction systems, and the extensions that were added to the original building as a result of successive expansions carried out over the years, maintaining the style of the original building and relating it to the new use of the space.
