SPECIAL PLAN FOR THE HISTORIC BUILDING OF CA N''ARPA IN SANR JOAN DE MOLLET (GIRONÈS)

Restoration and enhancement of the historic Ca n’Arpa building through a Special Plan based on heritage and residential criteria.

We have worked on the historic building of Ca n’Arpa in Sant Joan de Mollet. We proposed a residential building based on a Special Urban Plan and a Project in collaboration with architect Anna Noguera and historian Rosa Maria Gil.

The Ca n’Arpa building has gone through different phases and functions over the years. It is a building that dates back to the 18th century and has evolved by adapting to changes in its surroundings, hosting various distinct uses over time. Historically, in the 18th century, it served as an inn linked to the old Royal Road. By the end of the 19th century, with the new road layout toward La Bisbal, the building expanded and a new façade appeared. Later, in the mid-20th century, it became a sausage production facility.

The project is located in Sant Joan de Mollet, an area with residential and leisure potential, close to the train station and well connected to the city of Girona and the Baix Empordà region.

The aim of this Special Urban Plan is to define the heritage elements of the Ca n’Arpa building, through its physical and historical study, in order to formally regulate potential interventions and thus protect its architectural, historical, and heritage values.
