EXPANSION OF THE MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY OF CATALONIA (MAC)-PEDRET BUILDING

The Archaeology Museum has commissioned a small extension comprising two volumes for a Neoclassical-style villa in Girona’s Pedret neighborhood, in order to meet storage and restroom facility needs.

Situated on the banks of the Ter River amidst a diverse setting, we are developing a proposal for prefabricated modules that clearly and effetively address space requirements. At the same time, we aim to create a neutral, open aesthetic that does not obstruct views of the neoclassical building, chile introducing a modern touch characterized by simple lines and minimal volumes.

The proposal is simple and features open-plan areas, prioritizing permeability and functionality. It is also conceived as an ephemeral, reversible intervention, adaptable to the specific needs of the archaeology service.

Ultimately, this is a small, charmingly austere building extension that combines communal areas with more functional spaces, creating a facility dedicated to managing and working with heritage artifacts.
