The municipality of Cervià de Ter is part of the Gironès region. It is located between the Costa Brava and the city of Girona. It borders Bordils and Sant Joan de Mollet to the south, Sant Julià de Ramis and Vilademuls to the west, Viladasens to the north, and Sant Jordi Desvalls to the east. The intervention area starts at number 39 of Girona Street, in the westernmost part of the old town, passing through Plaça de la Generalitat and ending at the access gate to Hospital Street (entering via Torrent Street).

The proposal is divided into five work areas, highlighting two main aspects: the paving of Girona Street, Plaça de la Generalitat and Hospital Street, as well as the underground installation of all service lines, which are currently attached to the façades of the buildings.

Urban furniture will be made using components that combine concrete elements in tones similar to the pavement, along with wooden and metallic parts. These must have a uniform design throughout the intervention area. Benches will be the most prominent elements, especially in Girona Street and Plaça de la Generalitat.

To maintain the original concept of suspended lighting fixtures fixed to the façades, while adapting to a discreet and minimalist design, elements will be repositioned or newly planted in the area along the wall, on Girona Street, to provide shade in rest areas or small spaces, which will also be equipped with benches and other urban furniture elements (as previously described).

In summary, this is an improvement of the surroundings of the existing infrastructure. The project aims to recover traditional and native elements of the area through a reinterpretation of the space, enhancing existing elements of high value.

These actions are aimed at public services. The recovery of heritage through paving and undergrounding of service lines, as well as the creation of a historically significant route between the town’s monuments (in this case, the intervention area), will help revitalize the activity of the town center and increase its value for new visitors.

Urban improvement of Cervià de Ter’s old town with new paving, unified street furniture, and underground utilities to enhance the public space.
