REHABILITATION OF THE CAN GINESTAR FARMHOUSE IN VILADECANS

Intervention on the Can Ginestar Masia building as part of the Viladecans Urban Agenda Action Plan. The Can Ginestar Masia, listed as an Asset of Heritage Interest, is included under Action 4 as an underused facility with physical deficiencies presenting a significant opportunity to revitalize the existing city and provide it with new public services.

The project for the structural consolidation and envelope of the Can Ginestar Masia also aligns with the Viladecans 2030 Strategy, which is based on six strategic pillars. This project contributes to achieving the objectives related to Urban Regeneration, and in particular, directly addresses the following city challenges:

Challenge 21: Promote a proximity-based city, where activities, services, amenities, workplaces, and leisure are accessible to all.

Challenge 25: Achieve a compact urban structure with a diversity of uses, prioritizing internal redevelopment processes.

The proposal presented focused on the intervention in a historic building that forms part of the city’s urban fabric, aiming to adapt it into a socio-cultural facility meeting today’s standards. In 2025, a rehabilitation is required on functional, urban planning, and energy levels, in accordance with current regulations.

The purpose of the commission was to give the building a new architectural identity, aiming to upgrade and improve its energy performance, as well as to enhance its urban surroundings ensuring harmonious integration into its context and offering great flexibility of use. The construction will be carried out using durable, low-maintenance materials, ensuring sustainability and long-term resilience of the space.
