In Sant Pere Pescador (Alt Empordà), seasonal workers who have long come to harvest fruit live in the Quatre Vents area, 1970 housing complex in precarious conditions and a neglected environment. The municipality has one of the lowest income levels in all of Catalonia.
The local council has commissioned us to prepare a proposal for the Generalitat’s "Neighborhood Plan" (Pla de Barris) initiative. We are developing a proposal aimed at upgrading the area, featuring urban improvement projects that provide quality and green spaces. The plan also seeks to connect the recently built civic center and nursery with the Quatre Vents housing blocks via a new civic axis, incorporating sidewalks, green areas, and new urban spaces.
Stitching neighborhoods back together, healing urban fractures, mending the wounds of degraded urban fabric... These are different ways to describe the valuable, meticulous, and dedicated work of those of us who intervene in the damaged neighborhoods of our cities today.
