REPORT AND LEGALIZATION IN TORROELLA DE MONTGRÍ (BAIX EMPORDÀ)

The objective was to draft an updated Heritage Catalogue in accordance with current regulations, based on two main premises:

1. Alignment of protection levels with the categories established by Cultural Heritage Law 9/1993:

• Level 1: Cultural Assets of National Interest (BCIN) or equivalent. This would correspond to some of the elements currently classified as PR-1 and PR-2.

• Level 2: Cultural Assets of Local Interest (BCIL) or equivalent. This would also correspond to certain elements currently classified as PR-1 and PR-2.

• Level 3: Inventory of Urban Planning Protected Assets (BPU). Corresponding to elements currently classified as PR-3.

• Level 4: Archaeological and Paleontological Heritage. Corresponding to elements within the "Archaeological Protection" subcategory under the current PR-2 classification.

2. Specification of intervention criteria for Level 3 elements: Urban Planning Protected Assets (BPU).
The aim of the Heritage Catalogue is not only to protect specific notable elements of a building, but to ensure the appropriate treatment of the building as a whole, considering it an integral part of a historically significant urban fabric. A general analysis of the architectural features of the historic core was proposed, focusing on proportions of openings, compositional axes, types of eaves, lime mortars, and colour schemes according to the predominant architectural style of each building.

This analysis made it possible to define general intervention criteria to be applied throughout the historic centre of Torroella de Montgrí, with particular attention to properties classified under Level 3.
