This Special Urban Plan aims to establish an agricultural activity focused on the production, promotion, and creation of products related to the world of aromatic, culinary, and medicinal plants, with a strong component of social responsibility.
El Surolí is an agricultural estate located in the municipality of Palamós, in the northern part of the Baix Empordà region. It is situated in the Plans de Torre Mirona, near the Aubí stream and the Via Verda del Tren Petit. The estate covers an approximate area of 3.15 hectares, and is accessed via the Can Bitlloc path, which connects through the basic municipal road network to the C-31 road.
The business initiative “Parc de les Olors del Baix Empordà – El Surolí” is an agricultural sector project based on a variety of activities designed to highlight the value of a small agricultural estate. The specialization and excellence of the project are grounded in the organic cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants, and the production of goods derived from them, following the collaborative business model of the Parc de les Olors Network.
Being part of the Parc de les Olors Network of Catalonia allows for the application of a business model based on cultivation, but which also integrates education and marketing of the Network’s products, as well as products made on the estate or by local producers in the region. This agricultural diversification is structured around a business concept supported by four key areas, each with a distinct focus. In the case of the Parc de les Olors del Baix Empordà – El Surolí, these are developed as follows:
-
The organic cultivation and processing of aromatic and medicinal plants, starting with lemon verbena.
-
Educational and tourism activities, particularly school visits and experiential cultural tourism.
-
The creation of a farm shop (agrobotiga) at the Parc de les Olors del Surolí.
-
Collaborative marketing and distribution.
