SPECIFIC ACTION PROJECT (PAE): CAN BOSC IN LLADÓ

As architects committed to heritage and sustainability, we are working on a pioneering permaculture project at the Can Bosc estate in Lladó, Alt Empordà.

Since 1994, the team at Can Bosc has established a permaculture center featuring an ecological design across their property, spanning from the Can Bosc farmhouse to the various agricultural areas. They have experimented with diverse sustainability and regeneration techniques, such as greywater recycling and organic gardening. They have also organized workshops and events covering topics including hydrological design, water management, green building, and regenerative agriculture.

Fortià Arquitectes is currently developing the urban planning scheme to officially authorize this activity within the area, while preserving natural values ​​and incorporating educational and outreach activities aimed at raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainable agricultural and forestry practices.

We enjoy this work because it allows us to help revitalize and add value to this rural area, helping to prevent depopulation and the neglect of rural land.

Notable features include the organic gardens and the spaces surrounding the farmhouse—created by the Can Bosc team—as well as the wooden shed structure built by architect and builder Gabor Bouman.
