FORTIÀ ARQUITECTES HAS ORGANIZED CONFERENCES ON ARCHITECTURE IN JAPAN

The architect Pep Fortià, former scholarship holder of study programs in Japan, has organized two lectures by the architect Akihiro Kashima, a professor at Setsunan University in Osaka.

The two sessions took place on Monday 5 February at the Faculty of Law of the University of Girona and at the Nipponia Idiomes academy. The presentation at the UdG was made in the assembly hall and is entitled "The sense of space in Japanese architecture: a look at the Faculty of Law building in Girona". After a welcome from the Dean of the Faculty, Mr. Albert Ruda, the architect Pep Fortià presented Akihiro Kashima, an architect linked to the city of Girona for years.

In his speech, the architect Kashima spoke about the concepts of space in traditional Japanese architecture and from there he made a comparison with the essential features of the Faculty of Law building, a work that has been very recognized and designed by the Olotí architecture studio RCR.

The session at the Nipponia center took place on the same day and in this presentation the architect Kashima spoke about the concept of "Ma" in Japan, spatial, temporal and psychological ambiguity, relationships between people and in architecture, the concept of "Ma" that creates a subtle and multipurpose space.

The sessions were sponsored by the College of Architects of Catalonia, the University of Girona, Nipponia Idiomes and Fortià Arquitectes.
