PARTICIPATION IN THE UIA CONGRESS 2026

21/07/2026

This week we participated in the Congress of the International Union of Architects (UIA 2026). Ten thousand professionals attended to debate the topic Becoming, architectures for a planet in transition.

Far from the times of star architects with big projects, now from the Congress we sense rather uncertainties and challenges, such as difficult access to housing or the climate crisis.

Architects are an important part of the fight against the social and ecological crisis. In this sense, we listened with interest to the contributions of the Frenchman Jean Pierre Vassal, with his experiences of social housing in Bordeaux, the Japanese Junya Ishigami and his tectonic works in China or the architect Solano Benítez and his low-cost and high-performance works in Paraguay.

There have also been contributions from our country with the interesting experiences of Carles Oliver and the architect Toni Gironès @toni_girones

A few intense and vibrant days, which ended with the presentation of the UIA 2026 Awards at the Sagrada Familia, where in a space of high symbolic voltage the work of the Portuguese master Eduardo Souto da Moura was recognized.

A big round of applause for the organization and the excellent work in this meeting of colleagues who came from all over the world to discuss, debate and reflect on the great challenges of the future of architecture!
