Team

Presently, as the public are increasingly concerned with the problems of the historic city; architectural patrimony and collective public space, Fortià Arquitectes develops projects and studies on such patrimony, city planning and building refurbishments for public and private property; based on its experience as a multidisciplinary team.

The studio was established in 1999 after a learning and practice period in Barcelona and Girona; with apprenticeship training in Berkeley (USA), Tokyo, Paris, and Reggio di Calabria (Italy). With this experience, Dr. Fortià has learnt various ways of approaching a historic city and its intervention, the proposals over public areas and space planning.

Fortià Arquitectes specializes in projects on architectural heritage, urban design and public works in general. Our primary clients are various public administrations. Fortià Arquitectes is also associated with other professionals such as engineers, geologists, draughtsmen, lawyers and historians, and develop their activity with the advantage of such expertise.

Projects of different magnitudes and fields are tackled; ranging from urban design or patrimony master plans, to central and peripheral public places planning, and restoration of historic buildings, apart from completing projects of urban facilities.

Standing out among the projects carried out by Fortià Arquitectes, there are for example; the restoration of the historic perimeter wall of the cementery in Girona, the historic palace-castle in Rupià, the master plans for patrimonial facades in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, the special plans for the historical area in Peratallada and Vulpellac, the projects for the pavement of the old centre in Colomers, and the community centres of Ultramort, Puigventós and Pals.
