WORK CONTENT

From the material obtained in the data collection, a historical, architectural memory and a diagnosis of the state of conservation will be written.

The first section of historical memory will have the objective of specifying the historical events and events related to the building, from its construction and use to its abandonment and subsequent reconstruction. The historical documentation will allow to date each of the stages and understand the use of the spaces, added to the events that the owner family lived, that have influenced its evolution.

In the second section, architectural memory, the architectural, artistic and cultural values of the building will be described in detail, one of the most notable examples of Catalan civil architecture in Romanesque style. It was built in the thirteenth century as a hospital and in the seventeenth century passed into the hands of the Marquises de la Floresta. At the end of the 19th century, it was abandoned and progressively degraded until it was demolished in 1940 and the stones were stored in the city's cemetery. In 1955 the building was rebuilt under the orders of the architect Alexandre Ferrant Vázquez and from the original stones that were preserved. Unfortunately, nothing is kept inside.

In this section we will analyze in detail the historical documentation of works visits of the architect Alexandre Ferrant to determine the decisions taken for the conservation of the original elements and interpretation of the volume of the original building. Although the interior of the building is not preserved, the architectural memory will explain the original use of the spaces based on historical references.

In the last section, state of conservation, a global verification and diagnosis of the building classified in:

  • Structure: foundations, vertical elements and horizontal elements.
  • Exteriors: roofs, facades, façade finishes, ground floor openings, hollow upper floors, insulation ...
  • Interiors: compartmentation, walls, paving, ceilings, decoration ...
  • Facilities: kitchens and bathrooms, water, electricity, sanitation ...

The declaration file will also include an annex with the Report on the Urban Planning in Force that will be applicable to the element and its surroundings and will include an analysis of its adequacy to the proposed protection and, if necessary, concrete proposals for modifications on urban plan.

Based on the analytical and descriptive data, the second section will be written: protection regime. The proposed delimitation for the monument and also for the protection environment will be described and the decision adopted in each of the sections will be justified. Likewise, criteria for intervention and regulation will be included according to the Department of Culture.
